Kabbee launches #TubeFreeFriday Campaign to Help Londoners

Press release for immediate release – Thursday 27th November 2014

Tube busy

Kabbee, London’s leading licensed minicab comparison and booking app, has launched a free cabs campaign named #TubeFreeFriday, giving journeys away for free, in a bid to help Londoners avoid the tube cram caused by MasterCard’s #FareFreeFriday.

After hearing that last Friday’s #FareFreeFriday attracted record numbers of tube travelers, Kabbee is launching #TubeFreeFriday, to give away 100 free journeys using the code TGIF20, and double miles via its loyalty programme ‘Kabbee Treats’ for journeys booked on Friday 28th November 2014.*

Kabbee is London’s leading minicab app, helping over 500,000 users get around the city via a mighty minicab.  Its users generate 1,000 quotes per minute for over 70 of London’s best minicab fleets.  During peak commute times, Kabbee sees a 29% uplift in bookings, on average.**

Justin Peters, London-born Founder and CEO of Kabbee, comments on launching the campaign: “We’re big believers in giving Londoners as much choice as possible, and by launching #TubeFreeFriday, we’re giving commuters another cost-effective option to avoid the big tube squeeze this Friday.”

Kabbee users who take a minicab during Friday 28th November will receive double miles, via the Kabbee Treats programme, which launched earlier this month.  Users will be entitled to a selection of rewards, based on how many miles they have earned via Kabbee over a three month period. Kabbee’s users can earn more miles by referring a friend, by upgrading to a premium car for their journey, or booking a minicab this Friday.

The loyalty programme rewards passengers with ‘miles’ for every journey, which convert into treats from Kabbee and some great brands such as LateRooms.com, Naked Wines, Pact Coffee, Hubbub, Housekeep, LOVESPACE and La Gourmandina.

Kabbee Treats also includes a full refund for late cabs as part of its ‘5 Minute Punctuality Promise’***, an upgrade to a premium car and free credit to say thank you to loyal users.

Kabbee has recently launched its GPS live plotting technology that reduces waiting time for London’s everyday heroes up to 14 minutes on average, and cuts dead mileage for cabbies in half.

London’s First Ever Official Hero is Unveiled, as Designed by Real Londoners

London Hero (Lower res)

Kabbee, London’s leading licensed minicab comparison and booking app, is celebrating the busy lives of its users and other Londoners, by embodying the super human powers they wish they had, to create London’s first ever official hero.

Unlike other major cities, London has never had its own superhero.  For this reason, Kabbee has taken it upon itself to bring one to life, by asking Londoners what super human powers would make living in London easier.

The survey of 1500 Londoners revealed that the top five super human powers that city dwellers wish they had were:

  1. On-body thermostat – for those sticky tube journeys
  2. Water repellent – no more umbrellas
  3. 360 degree vision – never miss a thing
  4. Ability to reshape – squeeze into tight spaces
    1. Capability to part crowds – say goodbye to hold ups

When asked if London’s official hero should be male, female or unisex, 51 percent of the city said male, compared to 30 percent who said female, and 18 percent weren’t bothered either way.

Despite the fact that 7 in 10 people now own a Smartphone*, on-body 4G wasn’t one of the super human powers that was chosen, nor was renewable energy, so London’s official hero will still need his phone charger.

Justin Peters, London-born Founder and CEO of Kabbee, comments on creating London’s first hero, based on real Londoners: “London’s hero has been created to celebrate the lives of busy Londoners – the real heroes, who, against all odds, succeed in one of the most over-populated and expensive cities in the world.

”I’m sure, like me, many Londoners dreamed of being a superhero when they were younger, and now they have played a part in creating one for their city.”

When asked which superheroes Londoners like most, the top five were:

1) Superman (23%) from Kansas, USA

2) Batman (19%) based in Gotham City, NYC, USA

3) Cat Woman (14%) based in Gotham City, NYC, USA

4) Wonder Woman (13%) originally from Paradise Island, a secluded island

5) Spiderman (12%) was born in New York

Kabbee’s users generate an average of 1000 minicab journey quotes via the app every minute, helping them to get from A to B quickly, easily, and for the best possible price.  Kabbee puts over 70 of London’s best licensed minicab fleets at the fingertips of more than 500,000 Londoners.

Kabbee has recently launched its GPS live plotting technology that reduces waiting time for London’s everyday heroes up to 14 minutes on average, and cuts dead mileage for cabbies in half – making minicabs mighty, and giving every Londoner their own superhero getaway car.

London’s first official hero has everything he needs to live, work, and have fun in the city, but he’s not yet got a name.  Want to name him? Get involved on Kabbee’s Facebook page or on Twitter using #NameOurHero.

*72% of adults in the UK have a Smartphone, according to Deloitte Consumer Report, published in March 2014.

50% of holiday luggage is unnecessary, and costs Britons £392 million every year*

Picture1

Kabbee, London’s leading minicab comparison and booking app, has revealed that 34 percent of people in the UK that travel abroad wear only half of what they pack, and 24 percent have to spend an average of £32.50 on extra luggage capacity, costing Brits £393 million every year.*

Contrary to popular belief, it’s not the ladies that are packing unnecessary clothing and shoes, it’s the men.  Compared to 32 percent of women, 36 percent of men don’t wear half of what they take.

When asked how much ‘over-packers’ spend on extra luggage capacity, the average spend was revealed to be £32.50.  Travellers aged 35-44 years said they spend the most on extra luggage – around £33 per journey.  That said, as travellers age, the more sensible they seem to be when it comes to packing only the necessities.  43 percent of 18-24 year olds wear less than half of what they pack, compared to just 21 percent of people aged 55 or older.

Kabbee decided to look into how airport journeys can be made easier for passengers, with 25 percent of all their journeys being to and from London’s five airports.  Kabbee polled 1,000 British adults who had travelled abroad in the last year, to find out how many passengers take too much luggage, adding an extra tax to their holiday.

Earlier this year, Kabbee revealed the top six reasons for passengers missing or delaying a flight**:

  1. Traffic delays on public transport (engineering works, road accident) – 39%
  2. Overslept – 28%
  3. Last minute packing / disorganised – 26%
  4. Forgetting the date of travel – 18%
  5.   Going to the wrong terminal – 13%
  6. Passport had expired – 12%

Justin Peters, CEO and Founder of Kabbee explains how passengers can relax before their flight: Our study is designed to remind people that have a flight booked this holiday season to plan ahead for a stress-free getaway.  Extra costs for luggage, etc can be avoided, it’s just about being more disciplined when packing.

“We’ve heard stories from our minicab drivers, about passengers taking large amounts of luggage, and now we know that half of it is not even being worn.  More than 25 percent of all bookings made via Kabbee are airport journeys, so we’re keen to help to keep costs down by offering simple advice to passengers.

*calculation is based on 24% of 50.3 million people that travel abroad each year (ABTA Travel Trends Report 2013)

** Kabbee’s travel study included a national omnibus survey of 1000 UK adults from 08.04.14 – 10.04.14.

Kabbee launches new Take Me Home feature!

Cinderella

Why did Cinderella really have to head home at 12am?

10pm is the average ‘Take Me Home’ time for women, a study reveals

Kabbee, London’s leading minicab comparison and booking app has revealed that half of all women are having to head home from a night out between 9-11pm, all because their high heeled shoes are causing them pain.

Kabbee surveyed a total of 500 females and 500 males across the country to find out at what time heels really become ‘a pain’, not only for the ladies, but the men they are with too.  A massive 86 percent of women admitted that their shoes have hurt them on a night out, and 73 percent of men said their other half has previously complained about painful shoes during a night out together.

According to 25 percent of men, women start complaining about painful shoes as early as 9pm, but they reckon the biggest window for whining is 10-11pm (29%).

The study was undertaken as part of Kabbee’s research into what makes people head home on a night out, and to celebrate the launch of its ‘Take Me Home’ button, that is now live on the platform.

Kabbee’s ‘Take Me Home’ button uses GPS data to immediately locate the users’ current location, and because it already knows where they live, it provides instant quotes from over 70 fleets in London, enabling the passenger to choose from the cheapest, closest or most premium option to get home.  The new feature reduces the number of taps to getting a minicab from five, to three.

Justin Peters, CEO and Founder of Kabbee comments on the excitement of a new feature: It’s vital that Kabbee is always delivering the best possible consumer experience, and with that comes the need for cutting edge design and innovative technology. Kabbee was designed to use digital technology to take what is an ancient transport infrastructure into the 21st Century.

“We’ve prioritised the launch of the ‘Take Me Home’ function after our users told us that they’d like to see it on the platform.  User feedback is valuable to us, and our data indicates that half of the time our regular users book a minicab via Kabbee to go home, so the button will come in handy.”

Kabbee has collaborated with London’s leading Podiatrist and Chiropodist, Nicolas Ivanoff, Founder of Feet by Pody to offer advice to ladies who love to wear heels.  He shared his advice:

“Ask any woman…high heels are an essential part of the wardrobe at some stage in life – they make your legs look longer. But they can cause problems ranging from blisters, corns and calluses to serious foot, knee and back pain. Most women power through, and continue to wear high heels, despite the pain, which is not advisable.  My role is to help women enjoy wearing high heels, without damaging their feet. The key to comfort is wearing heels for shorter periods of time.

“Also 90 percent of all women wear shoes that are too small for them.  My biggest piece of advice to women that wear high heels is to treat their feet to some TLC when they arrive home – a relaxing foot massage, or a nice hot bath to relax the feet, works wonders.  Women should always seeks professional advice from their podiatrist when a problem arises and give their feet an annual check.”

Kabbee’s Take Me Home button is live on the app now.

Minicab Driver in East London awarded ‘Stars of the Month’

_DSC0345

Local Minicab Driver in Isle of Dogs, East London Supports Kabbee’s Initiative to Promote Positive Passenger Experience

A local minicab driver in Isle of Dogs, Mohammed Abdul of Trio Cars, was crowned ‘Star of the Month’ by London’s leading minicab comparison and booking app, Kabbee. As one of the top 10 performing drivers in London, Mohammed received his £200 prize last week – Kabbee’s way of saying thank you for being a brilliant driver.

Kabbee recently launched a new initiative to promote the most positive passenger experience possible, by rewarding the best 10 minicab drivers. Every month, thousands of minicabs are booked in London via the Kabbee app, so it’s vital that all users feel assured they will enjoy the ride, each, and every, time.

Mohammed won May’s ‘Star of the Month’ after consistent high ratings for the level of service provided, with one local passenger saying, “I am extremely happy with this booking and particularly my driver. My car was on time, waiting for me, and the driver called me to let me know he had arrived. I had such a peaceful journey – extremely recommended.”

Isle of Dogs’ Minicab Master, Mohammed Abdul will proudly display the official Kabbee sticker inside his vehicle. To incentivise feedback, each month two local passengers that rate their journey will win £50 each, and two lots of £50 will also be given to the best two ‘selfies’ taken with Mohammed when tweeted to @Kabbee using the hashtag #stardriver.

After each journey, passengers are prompted to rate their journey for punctuality, the vehicle and the driver. At the end of each month, the top 10 performing drivers receive £200 each, and the top performing fleet is rewarded £1000 to share between the controllers. Let’s get rating, residents of Isle od Dogs!

Kabbee’s ‘Star of the Month’, Mohammed Abdul comments on what the award means to him: It’s great that Kabbee is rewarding drivers for their good service, and the number of jobs have increased a lot for me. It’s such a good feeling to be recognised for the hard work that we put in to keep our valued passengers happy.  Feedback is the one thing that we are used to getting very little of, direct from passengers, so now we are via Kabbee, it’s great.”

Kabbee’s CEO & Founder, Justin Peters, shares the reasons behind launching the ‘Star of the Month’ scheme: “The sheer volume of minicab journeys being booked via Kabbee in Hayes has prompted the launch of our ‘Star of the Month’ campaign – it’s so important for us to be constantly improving the service we offer.

“To ensure safety and quality, we put all licensed minicab firms through a tough 30-point check before they can provide quotes via the app.  Once a fleet has been granted access to the Kabbee platform, they work extremely hard to stay there, by ensuring they provide a positive passenger experience on every journey.”

Kabbee Celebrates 3rd Birthday!

Kabbee-Logo-RGB-StandardKabbee celebrates its 3rd birthday and 500,000th app download

Kabbee, London’s leading minicab comparison and booking app is celebrating turning three this week, just as its 500,000th user downloads the multi-award-winning platform.

Being the only minicab app available across all mobile platforms (iPhone, Android, Blackberry 10 app, and Windows Phone 8) more than 500,000 Londoners have downloaded it in order to move across the city, based on fixed fare quotations from over 70 of the capital’s best licensed minicab fleets.

Since its launch in June 2011, Kabbee users have generated a massive 7.5 million quotes, saving themselves over £9 million in total, compared to the same journeys by black cab.

So where are Londoners going?

With 25 percent of all bookings taking passengers to and from London’s five airports, the departures and arrivals halls were top of the list of popular pick-up and drop off points, however Paddington and Euston overground stations ranked highly, and Westminster is the top location that’s not an airport or station.

Justin Peters, Kabbee CEO and Founder comments on the celebration: “Our mission at Kabbee is to Make Minicabs Mighty, and by empowering over 500,000 potential passengers with a simple, quick and cost-effective way to find and book a licensed minicab, I’d say we’re doing a good job so far.

“We invest a lot of time and energy into innovation, and that underpinned by fantastic customer service makes Kabbee an attractive platform for fleets, and Londoners to join.  For as long as people need to move around London, we expect this steady growth to continue.”

Press release: Kabbee officially launches on Windows Phone 8

Kabbee-WindowsPhone

Kabbee is Spreading its Wings – to Windows Phone 8

Kabbee, London’s leading minicab comparison and booking app has officially launched its new native app, designed especially for Windows Phone 8, making it the first minicab app to be available on all digital platforms.

Previously available on web, iPhone, Android and Blackberry, the app has already been downloaded by more than 400,000 people, who can access over 10,000 licensed minicab drivers, from 70 of the highest quality minicab fleets right across the city.

To get it right first time, Kabbee’s Windows Phone 8 app is based on Microsoft’s design principles for modern UI, and has a range of native integrations to further improve the user experience, who will be downloading the app for the first time.

The new app uses Microsoft’s Bing maps, and has a range of new features that provide the fastest booking process to date.  As Windows Phone 8 users may be completely new to Kabbee, an animated bee is there to help users navigate the app, ensuring that they use all the great features that make the booking process so slick.

On average, Kabbee users generate over 1000 quotes per minute, giving them access to a range of options to choose from, including the closest, cheapest and top-rated fleets, based on feedback from other users – all quotes given are a fixed price, avoiding any surprises at the end of their journey.

To incentivise the launch, Windows 8 users can earn credit with Kabbee’s Free Cabs programme, which is built-in to the app. By simply sharing a unique referral code, the user will get £10 free credit for any friend who makes their first booking on their new account, and their friend will automatically get £10 free credit too! Please refer to full T&Cs.

Windows Phone 8 users can now choose from a range of options available on the app, including their selection of the provider, all car sizes (saloon, estates, MPV’s), car types (standard, premium, and electric vehicles), child seats, and bookings can be made up to three months in advance.

Windows Phone 8 users can also use the ‘Track My Kabbee’ feature, a GPS-based feature that gives app users a real-time account of where the minicab is on the map. The vehicle is represented by a little buzzing bee, which sounds a horn when the minicab arrives.

Justin Peters, Kabbee CEO and Founder commented on the Windows launch: “With new minicab apps launching every month, it’s vital that Kabbee is always delivering the best possible consumer experience, and with that comes the need for the best availability and access to the best quality minicab fleets.  We’re delighted to extend our offer to Windows Phone 8 users.”

Fred Cornille, Senior Category Manager of Windows Phone, Microsoft UK Ltd comments on working with Kabbee: We have collaborated with Kabbee to bring their app to the Windows Phone Store. From the integration with Bing Maps and the unique, fresh feel of the modern UI, the Kabbee app has been designed with our devices at the heart.”

Press release: Kabbee Reveals New Provocative Advertising Campaign

Kabbee-4[15]

Kabbee’s Hyperlocal Campaign Shakes up Shoreditch

Kabbee, London’s leading licensed minicab comparison and booking app has launched a provocative hyperlocal advertising campaign instructing locals to ‘Get out of Shoreditch’.

The award-winning app aggregates 70 licensed minicab fleets throughout London, putting almost 10,000 minicabs at its users’ fingertips, giving them a range of options, including cheapest, closest, top-rated and premium minicabs to choose from.

Kabbee’s hundreds of thousands of users span every Greater London postcode, so the aim is to get the attention of each district, one at a time, and encourage them to explore more of London – via minicabs.

Campaign factfile

  • Date: 17th May – 1st June
  • Media owner: King Media
  • Location: Shoreditch High Street, EC2A 3EJ
  • Size: 100 metres squared

Kabbee’s Director of Marketing, Cristina Astorri comments on the campaign: We’re waiting with baited breath to see how Shoreditch lovers will react to our provocative advertising campaign.  People who spend a lot of time there often spend very little time anywhere else, so we would like to offer an alternative way to explore other new interesting places.”

Antidote’s Deputy Creative Director, Teddy Keen led the campaign, he comments: “This execution conveys Kabbee as an app that helps people explore more of London outside of the area they call home, in this case Shoreditch.“

“People who spend a lot of time in Shoreditch, often spend very little time anywhere else. Even those of us who love Shoreditch know that the place has become a cliché. It’s good to be reminded that there is a friendly escape button in the form of Kabbee.”

The thought-provoking out-of-home campaign will roll out across London over the next 12 months.

Press Release: Apart from babies, what else is left behind in minicabs?

What have you left in the back of a minicab? No babies, we hope!

Apart from babies, what else is left behind in minicabs?

Kabbee reveals the top five items passengers leave behind

After hearing today’s news about the baby left on the back seat of a black cab, Kabbee, London’s leading licensed minicab app took it upon itself to find out what other items are regularly left behind in the back of minicabs.

The quick poll of Kabbee’s busiest minicabs fleets across London revealed the top five items that are left behind, they are:

1) Mobile phones

2) Wallets

3) Keys

4) Lingerie

5) Sunglasses

Every month thousands of minicabs across London are booked via the Kabbee app, so it’s vital that its hundreds of thousands of users feel assured they will enjoy the ride, each, and every, time, and leave with all their belongings.

Finn Geraghty, Kabbee’s Head of Fleet Performance, comments on the top five items found by fleets: “The moment a passenger gets into a minicab, they put a great amount of trust in that driver.  At Kabbee, we encourage all minicab drivers to remind passengers to check the back seat before the passenger leaves the vehicle, in the hope that no items, or children are left behind.

“Jokes aside, we put all licensed minicab firms through a tough 30-point check before they can provide quotes via the app – and one of them is to ensure they have a full and accurate lost property folder, so that in event that an item is left behind, it can be returned to its owner.”

Duncan Blackett Fleet Manager of Greater London Cars – a fleet on the Kabbee platform comments: “It’s actually quite shocking to hear about some of the items left in the back of cars – a big one is scarves and gloves in the colder months, but we’ve seen boxes of chocolates, and lingerie on a few occasions too.”
